ABOUT
My name is Veerle Houben (1999, Eijsden), an audiovisual artist based in Maastricht. My work centers around visualizing emotions and feelings that are difficult to capture in words. After completing my Visual Communication studies at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in 2021, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Arts from LUCA School of Arts in Genk. I am currently finishing my Master’s in Audiovisual Arts there, with the goal of graduating in January.
In my installations, I offer more than just visuals: I create spaces that enhance the experience of the work, where every detail is connected to the emotions I want to convey. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to be more open about their own feelings.
My first solo exhibition, Twenty Something, gives voice to themes like self-discovery, relationships, and mental health. Developed for and with young people in Maastricht, this exhibition marks a new step in my artistic journey.
